The
cover was placed over the dash to check space around defrost vents.
Tracy held it in place while I got under the hood and used a marker
through the holes in the top of the metal dash to mark the cover for
drilling. You may notice that we were doing this part of the job
back when we had the windshield out. You can also see that we
coated the area around the defrost vents with black paint.

Tracy
drills one of the holes we marked for the top dash pad bolts.

But
now the dash pad no longer fit in the original holes! Installing
it over the fiberglass cover moves it about 1/2" toward the back
of the car. This, of course, was discovered AFTER
drilling the holes in the fiberglass piece - DOH!
Your author is seen here elongating the holes with the all-important
Dremel tool. At
least we had the foresight to do this part of the job while the windshield
was out!
